Planning ahead lets us be in the right place without turning the wedding into a production that controls its own protagonists.
A documentary eye, with editorial portraits where they earn their place
A wedding already has its own rhythm, cast and irreversible moments. Our work is to read them, anticipate and build a story without asking for anything to happen twice. Documentary observation carries most of the day; directed portraits are used when they add something a candid frame cannot.
That balance is agreed before the wedding, not improvised during it. We define how many minutes are reserved for portraits, at which point in the light, and which family groups matter most, so the celebration is never turned into a continuous photo session.
Planning a destination wedding from abroad
Most couples marrying in Colombia from overseas are coordinating vendors across time zones and have never seen the venue in person. That changes what a photographer owes them: clarity in writing, realistic travel times and an explicit list of what has not yet been decided.
We put assumptions on paper instead of hiding them. If the ceremony time, the venue layout or the guest count is still open, it is marked as an assumption in the proposal so the scope can be adjusted without a renegotiation after the fact.
What Cartagena actually demands
Cartagena de Indias is the country's most requested wedding destination and the least forgiving of improvisation. Heat and sustained humidity fog lenses moving between air-conditioned rooms and the street, batteries behave differently and guests tire earlier.
The light is hard for much of the day and extraordinary in the final hour before sunset — a short window that does not wait for a ceremony running late. Photography in the walled city, on the ramparts and in certain venues carries usage conditions and, in some cases, authorisations we confirm in advance.
Bogotá, Medellín and the Coffee Region
Bogotá sits at 2,600 metres: the light is contrasty at midday and falls earlier than most couples expect, and haciendas across the Sabana add forty to ninety minutes of travel. Medellín and the Oriente Antioqueño offer warm, generous light with a high chance of afternoon rain in exactly the window ceremonies tend to occupy.
Each location changes the technical plan, never the intent of the story. We scout the constraints that matter — travel, light, weather, venue rules — and write them into the schedule before the date is confirmed.
Coverage, deliverables and what is quoted separately
Rather than hiding scope behind package names, we describe the people, hours and deliverables the story needs: preparations, ceremony, portraits, reception, speeches, first dance and celebration, with the number of photographers and cameras following the plan rather than a price tier.
The proposal states the estimated number of edited photographs, film length and versions, resolution, revisions, gallery, retention and delivery dates. City, travel, accommodation, extra hours, drone, albums, printing and rush delivery are identified before approval, not raised after the wedding.
Publication rights stay a separate decision
Permission to use images in a portfolio is discussed with the couple. Hiring coverage does not automatically turn a wedding into promotional material; the service and the authorisation to publish are two different agreements, and either can be granted without the other.
This matters more for destination weddings, where guests and families may not share the same expectations about visibility. We would rather agree it in writing than assume.

Do you travel for destination weddings in Colombia?
Yes. We are based in Bogotá and cover Cartagena, Medellín, the Coffee Region and other destinations. Travel, accommodation and local operating time are itemised separately in the proposal rather than hidden inside a single figure.
Do you speak English on the wedding day?
Yes. Planning conversations, the written proposal and communication during the day can be handled in English or Spanish, whichever the couple and their families prefer.
Can you fly a drone in Cartagena's walled city?
It is never promised as a guaranteed shot. Proximity to the airport and restrictions over the historic centre govern permission, so it is confirmed against the exact location and date.
How many photographs do you deliver?
A curated, edited selection rather than every frame taken. The estimated count, resolution, gallery and delivery date are written into the proposal before you book.
